Info: Verifying MD5 checksum on Windows
Purpose: This post is a follow-up of MD5SUM for ISO images post, in which we primarily learned how to generate MD5 checksums for your ISO images. In this post, we will learn about some of the available tools that you can use to verify those ISO images by running a check of their MD5 checksum under Windows XP. Windows does not have any in-built tool, unlike Linux, to verify the MD5 checksum of ISO images and therefore we need to reply on third-party tools to do that.
So go ahead and download your favorite ISO file from the Internet and then follow the rest of the post.
There are many tools that are available (Command line and GUI-based) for verifying MD5 checksum on the Internet if you were to do a search. However I will list some of those tools which I think are pretty easy-to-use and simple. Here are some of my recommendations which are mostly GUI-based:
1. Nero MD5 Verifier

2. Nullriver’s WinMD5Sum
Download link: http://www.nullriver.com/downloads/Install-winMd5Sum.exe

3. TSoft’s MD5Sum (Simplest tool)

Home page: http://www.midwavi.com/
4. FastSum (Not a freeware)
Download link: http://www.fastsum.com/download/FastsumSetup-1.7.exe
Home page: http://www.fastsum.com/
Out of the above 4, Fastsum is the only one which has the facility to upload the MD5SUM (*.md5) file for verification. In all the others, you have to manually paste the checksum verification code.
